SELF-CHARGING HYBRID. 530Nm. AND NOW TUNED FOR AUSTRALIA.
Meet the 2026 GWM Haval H6 Lux HEV with AT-1 – one of the smartest combinations in the new H6 range.
You get the efficiency and effortless performance of GWM's proven self-charging hybrid, an impressive 179kW and 530Nm, a huge 14.6-inch infotainment display, an extensive safety package and the comfort and practicality of a genuine family SUV.
But there's another important difference with this latest H6.
AT-1.
GWM has taken what was already an impressive SUV and put considerable Australian engineering into the way it actually feels on our roads.
The result is an H6 that's not simply well equipped for the money.
It's been tuned for the country you're actually going to drive it in.
HYBRID – WITHOUT THE PLUG
If you like the idea of hybrid efficiency but don't want to think about charging, cables or installing anything at home, this is the one.
The H6 HEV combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with an electric drive motor, producing a substantial combined:
179kW of power.
And an even more impressive:
530Nm of torque.
The clever part is how seamlessly the petrol and electric systems work together.
At different times the H6 can use electric power, petrol power or a combination of both, automatically managing the system to balance performance and efficiency.
And you don't have to do anything.
There's no charging cable.
There's no home charger required.
There's no plugging it in overnight.
The hybrid battery replenishes itself as you drive, including by recovering energy through regenerative braking.
Put petrol in it and drive it like a normal car.
The H6 takes care of the hybrid part for you.
530Nm CHANGES HOW A HYBRID FEELS
Efficiency doesn't mean sacrificing performance.
With 179kW and 530Nm combined, the H6 HEV has serious performance available when you ask for it.
The electric motor can provide immediate response from low speed, while the turbocharged petrol engine works alongside it when additional performance is required.
That makes the HEV particularly well suited to everyday driving.
Pulling into traffic.
Climbing a range.
Overtaking on the highway.
Or simply getting the family and a boot full of luggage moving without feeling like the engine is working overtime.
It's smooth and quiet when you want it to be – but there's plenty of performance waiting when you put your foot down.
AT-1 – AUSTRALIAN ROADS DESERVE AN AUSTRALIAN TUNE
This is one of the most important changes to the latest H6.
AT-1 – pronounced “At One” – is GWM Australia's localisation and vehicle development philosophy for Australia and New Zealand.
And it's much more than a badge.
GWM's local engineering team has spent considerable time driving, measuring, testing and refining vehicles on the types of roads Australians actually use.
That means looking beyond a perfectly smooth test track and considering the things we deal with every day:
Broken bitumen.
Undulating country roads.
Coarse-chip surfaces.
Mid-corner bumps.
Highway driving.
Urban roads.
And the enormous variation in surfaces we encounter across Australia and New Zealand.
The focus of AT-1 is to continually refine areas including ride and handling, steering calibration and ADAS behaviour, creating a vehicle that feels more natural, predictable and confidence-inspiring in local conditions.
And importantly, GWM hasn't created one generic H6 tune and applied it to everything.
The HEV 2WD has its own dedicated AT-1 calibration, developed specifically around the weight, drivetrain and characteristics of this powertrain.
That's the sort of local engineering that you can actually appreciate from behind the wheel.
LUX – ANYTHING BUT BASIC
The Lux specification is where this H6 becomes particularly compelling.
You're getting a huge amount of equipment without having to jump to the top of the range.
Inside, Comfort-Tek seating gives the cabin a premium feel, while dual-zone automatic climate control allows the driver and front passenger to set their own temperature preferences.
The driver's seat is 6-way electrically adjustable, making it easy to find a comfortable driving position.
There's also plenty of room for the family, excellent rear passenger space and a large, practical cargo area.
This isn't a stripped-out hybrid designed purely to achieve a fuel-consumption number.
It's a properly equipped family SUV.
14.6 INCHES OF TECHNOLOGY
One of the first things you'll notice when you climb inside is the enormous 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen.
It completely changes the feel of the cabin.
Navigation through vehicle functions, entertainment and smartphone connectivity is presented on a large, clear display that's easy to see and use from the driver's seat.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration lets you bring your compatible smartphone apps, navigation, music and calls into the vehicle.
The result is an interior that feels modern, clean and considerably more expensive than you might expect at this price point.
360 DEGREES MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE
Another feature we particularly like in the H6 is the 360-degree camera system.
Rather than relying solely on a conventional reversing camera, multiple cameras provide a view around the vehicle.
It makes parking considerably easier.
But it's equally useful when you're squeezing through a tight driveway, manoeuvring around an obstacle or simply trying to judge exactly where the corners of the vehicle are.
It's one of those features that can sound like a luxury until you've lived with it.
Then you don't want to give it back.
SAFETY BUILT AROUND THE FAMILY
The H6 combines its strong safety credentials with an extensive suite of intelligent driver-assistance technology.
Depending on the situation, these systems can help identify vehicles, pedestrians, lane markings and potential hazards around you, providing warnings or assistance when required.
And this is another area where AT-1 matters.
GWM's localisation philosophy isn't limited to suspension.
It also incorporates the ongoing refinement and calibration of ADAS systems for Australian and New Zealand conditions, with the aim of making the interaction between driver and vehicle feel more natural and intuitive.
For a family SUV that may spend its life moving between school runs, commuting, country roads and long highway trips, that's exactly where intelligent safety technology should be focused.
THE HYBRID THAT DOESN'T ASK YOU TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE
That's really the beauty of the H6 Lux HEV.
There's no learning curve.
There's no charger to install.
There's no cable to remember.
And there's no need to plan your weekend around where you're going to recharge.
You simply get in and drive.
The vehicle manages the relationship between petrol and electric power automatically, while regenerative braking helps replenish the hybrid battery as you travel.
So you get the advantages of electrification without having to change the way you've always used your car.
Self-charging hybrid.
179kW.
530Nm.
Australian AT-1 tuning.
Lux specification.
And all the space and practicality of a genuine family SUV.
That's a very difficult combination to ignore.
